So, I Did a Thing
So, I might have done a thing. Perhaps I was a little bit crazy, or perhaps I just got too tired of putting my life on hold, but…I went ahead and decided to self-publish The Blacker Berry. I’m still not really sure what I was thinking. However, sometime around my two hundredth or so rejection from an agent, I knew I didn’t want to keep waiting for someone who could “fall in love with my book”. Not when I was already in love with it.
And just like love, maybe I’m ignoring its flaws and overlooking its weak points. Love doesn’t always make sense. But I just couldn’t keep telling it “maybe in another month”, or “after this next batch of queries”. I had to put it out there. Because, whether anyone reads it (other than my friends and family—hi guys!), or not, it’s nice to know I’ve completed something. I feel like it’s been hovering in the air for over a year now, waiting for its chance to come down into the world. Now its here and I can’t regret that.
So, for all of you that may read it, or read this. I hope you enjoy. Because the hardest part of this (for me, at least) is coming next. Now I have to complete another book. Pray for me!
